End of Year Reflection: A Journey of Virtuous Living

As we come to the end of 2024, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the year we've shared in our pursuit of Virtuous Living: A Year of Spiritual Growth. This year, we have embraced the transformative journey of cultivating the virtues that reflect the heart of Christ. Guided by 2 Peter 1:5-7, we have sought to grow in love, patience, kindness, humility, compassion, forgiveness, faithfulness, joy, gentleness, peace, self-control, and gratitude.

Throughout this year, we’ve been challenged to live out these virtues in our everyday lives, each one helping us to become more like Christ. As we embraced these virtues, we not only grew spiritually but also developed deeper connections with each other. Whether through acts of kindness, moments of patience, or extending forgiveness, each virtue has played a crucial role in shaping us as individuals and as a community of believers.

In reflecting on the year, I see the beautiful work God has done in our hearts. He has strengthened us through trials, deepened our joy, and taught us to walk in humility. Most importantly, He has cultivated in us a heart of gratitude, recognizing that every step of the way has been part of His divine plan for growth and transformation.

As we close this chapter of spiritual growth, we look ahead with excitement for the new year and our theme for 2025: Rooted in Virtue: A Year of Spiritual Practice. The foundation we’ve built this year will carry us forward, helping us continue to grow deeper in Christ, stronger in our faith, and more committed to living out His virtues.

Let’s take this opportunity to thank God for the work He has done in us and for the ways we’ve experienced His love and grace this year. Let’s also look forward with anticipation, knowing that the best is yet to come.

With a grateful heart,
Pastor Samuel Bailey Wilson, III
