Finding Rest in God: Trusting in His Power, Standing on His Rock

Beloved, have you ever felt overwhelmed by the challenges and trials of life? Have you ever felt like you're carrying a heavy burden that you cannot bear alone? If so, I want to share with you today a powerful truth that can bring peace and rest to your soul. In Psalm 62:1-2, 5-8, the psalmist declares his confidence in God and encourages us to trust in Him alone. Let us look at this passage together and discover how we can find rest in God.

Trust in God alone

The first step to resting in God is to trust in Him alone. In verse 1, the psalmist declares, My soul finds rest in God alone. We must trust in God's power, His goodness, and His faithfulness. When we put our trust in anything or anyone other than God, we will inevitably be disappointed. But when we trust in Him, we can rest assured that He will never fail us.

God is our rock and salvation

The psalmist continues in verse 2, He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. When we trust in God, we can rest in the knowledge that He is our rock and salvation. He is our firm foundation, and nothing can shake us when we stand on Him. No matter what trials or challenges come our way, we can trust in God to be our refuge and strength.

Pour out your heart to God

In verse 8, the psalmist encourages us to pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. When we feel overwhelmed, anxious, or burdened, we can come to God and pour out our hearts to Him. He is our refuge, and He cares deeply for us. When we share our struggles with Him, He can comfort us, guide us, and give us the strength we need to carry on.

Beloved, let us trust in God alone, knowing that He is our rock and salvation. Let us pour out our hearts to Him and find rest in His loving arms. As we rest in Him, we can face any challenge or trial that comes our way, knowing that He will never leave us or forsake us. May we always remember the words of the psalmist in verse 6, He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. Amen.
